THUNDER MOUNTAIN WHEELERS Trail Preservation for Every Generation

© Thunder Mountain Wheelers

We ride ATVs and snowmobiles for fun as our way to enjoy the public land.  We do NOT abuse these lands. Our policy is to take care of them so our children and grand children will be able to see them in any matter they choose.  We actively oppose any restrictions of access on our public lands when restrictions are implemented without compelling evidence and logical reasons.

Thunder Mountain Wheelers has adopted many trails and lakes on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests. Download a trail map or stop in to any U.S Forrest Service office to get a free map.

We help maintain trails as far North as Grand Junction, South to Telluride, West to the Utah border and East to Paonia. We maintain over 12 trails on the Grand Mesa including the very popular Green Mountain East and West. Maintenance efforts include removing downed trees, reconstruction of washed trail sections and installing width restrictors. TMW members also walk the banks of area lakes removing trash and debris. In 2011 the TMW in association with the U.S. Forest Service developed 3 new trails on the Uncompahgre

Since our inception, we have raised in excess of $850,000. These funds are critical to maintaining more than 125 miles of trails and the numerous lakes we’ve adopted. Such an enormous area could not be maintained without great relationships with partner government organizations and neighbor ATV clubs such as the:
